How This Period Effected Me
Personal Computing
The merge of motion pictures with the power of computing and internet technologies greatly influenced my career and how I experience media. My father purchased an Apple Macintosh around 1985 and it was inspiring. Using the Mac to play games, write high school papers and use the voice software to prank friends was fun. The Macintosh was ahead of it's time and encouraged my interest in media.
Effects of Personal Computers and Internet
In 1988, I started college and declared my major in Television and Radio. Instinctively, I decided against a career in media and changed majors. In the the mid nineties I left home, purchased my first PC, and dialup internet service. This led me to begin my self study of computers and software. The net effect of these decisions prepared me for technology jobs which now require the use of gadgets, wireless technologies and web-based publishing. The motion picture industry helped inspire the technologies we use everyday. For example, my Motorola Razr is as smaller and lighter than the communicators in Star Trek television series.
